Hello everyone. In the past, I tried eating tofu but I never liked it a lot until I discovered that to properly prepare it, you have to extract the water from it before marinating. For this reason, I tried pressing it with a temporary structure. Once I realized what a difference there was, I sat at my computer to design a dedicated instrument, so I present to you my tofu press. Since 3D printing isn't properly a food-safe manufacturing process, I highly suggest you use kitchen paper between the tofu and the printed parts, as you can see in my photos. To assemble it, you need a top part and a base, together with two nuts and two screws. Since the screws apply pressure to the tofu, it needs to be quite strong. For this reason, I would suggest you print the screws in PETG with 5 walls and 25% infill to make them strong. To use the press, wrap the tofu with a kitchen paper sheet and put it between the base and the top plate. Screw the nuts to apply a slight pressure on the tofu and let it sit there. Once every 5 minutes, I usually check on it to remove the water that is dripping from the kitchen paper and to tighten the nuts a little bit further to apply pressure again. This process greatly improves the taste of tofu meals since tofu will entirely absorb every marinating you put on it afterward, so it becomes really yummy. As you can see, I have added a pattern to the base so air can circulate under the tofu. To do that, I have used Orca Slicer. I added a modifier and changed only its settings. In particular, I have turned to 0 both the top and bottom layers so that the infill shows. You can choose your favorite infill pattern to complete the piece. This is a great trick to use to decorate pieces 🤓 Hope you enjoy 😊
