When you need to place the spool on top of the box while you need it to turn easily. A simple holder can handle a 2kg spool with a maximum diameter of 430mm with a central hole of at least 40mm. Two plain bearings with an inner diameter of 8mm and an outer diameter of 22mm are sufficient. So for example 608 2RS Ball Bearing ABEC-5 8X22X7mm from Aliexpress.
