TrackMan Marble Fix

You have used your Logitech TrackMan Marble for many years. But suddenly drag and drop stops working reliably. When you press the mouse button for longer than a normal click (e.g when doing a drag and drop move) it will sporadically abort the drop as if you released the mouse button too early.


You may blame the micro switches. But replacing them will be only a short term fix.


The root cause seems to be the plastic support structure for the circuit board which hosts the microswitches. On a shiny new TrackMan the board sits tight and firm. But as years pass by the support structure weakens and seems to wear out. This wear is causing the pain when doing a drag and drop operation. On one of my TrackMans the clip was completely broken apart on an other one it had a big crack.


The fix is just to reinforce the structure by a 3d printed support.
