We purchased a Trendnet web cam for monitoring our 3D prints. However we found that we wanted to use it with a tripod but it is not designed for that. 3D printing to the rescue! I designed a mount interface between the TrendNet camera and a tripod.
The cool thing about the TrendNet camera is that you can access it anywhere over the Internet and remotely control and point it at anything in the room with live feed.
The only caveats here is that the mount needs screws of the right length and threads.
I glued a nut into the interface that matched the threads of the tripod screw and used Clearfield epoxy to hold it in place but be careful not to contaminate the threads.
It worked great! This not only allows us to monitor the prints but now we can position it to monitor the filament spool to determine how long the spool will last.
