There are so many build plate holders, but they are large and often in the way. This holder allows you to slide up to 3 build plate sheets under your Kobra S1. It is designed to fit true S1 build plates. Including the front tab, plates are 264 mm wide by 265 mm deep. The build plate tab will stick out the front so you can easily grasp the plate you want. Larger width plates will not fit, but longer plates are ok and will stick out the front further. I used Amolen blue PLA Silk. The final frame is larger than the 250mm printer volume, so I made it in four parts, turned 45 degrees to get the needed length. The parts fit together snugly. Some minor trimming may be necessary to make the parts fit if you get some mushrooming on the first layers. Once all four parts are assembled, optionally, you can insert four M2 x 6mm screws on the sides. This locks all the parts together. On my prints, one of the holes was strangely filled in, so I drilled it out with a 1/16” drill bit. It is not a design error, other than the holes are quite small! I printed the parts with Ironing set to “All top surfaces” for cleaner top surfaces. It almost doubles the print time, and you may not want to bother. Ironing does make the build plates slide in smoothly. Printing Feet New feet are needed for the extra 8mm height, and the holder is wider than the current front feet would allow. Ideally, I wanted these in TPU, but I was not successful at getting the 90A TPU to load. At least it didn’t jam! Perhaps 95A TPU would work better. A reminder for those who print in TP
