Due to some feedback, this is a version of my file that allows for 4, 2.5 in long 3/8 x 16 bolts for the vertical, and 3, 1/4 x 20 bolts for the lateral. The 1/4 bolts will need nuts on their opposite side.
I have not tested this design but should be significantly stronger with the bolts in place.
