Variable Linear Filter (VLF)

A Variable Linear Filter (VLF) is an optical component that selectively transmits specific wavelengths of light while blocking others. The filter changes wavelengths linearly along its axis, allowing different wavelengths to be selected depending on the position of the light or sensor. VLFs can operate over a broad wavelength range, typically covering from UV to visible light or from visible to near-infrared (NIR). They are especially useful in systems such as spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging, offering flexible wavelength selection without the need for mechanical movement.
