This is a concept for a DIY virtual laparoscopic surgery trainer. Rather than providing a large, physical box, the device consists of two identical modules with 3-axis gimbals for device tracking. The devices would be connected to a PC to be used with virtual simulator software. In addition, it could still be used to manipulate real objects without the necessity of the software with the use of a box and a webcam.
