This is the renewed version of a filament holder I made for my printer enclosure. I mounted it on the side of the enclosure to allow the feed to be smoother and eliminate the under extrusion artifacts.
Printing the core rod is optional, if you don't think your print will be able to bear the shear stress without the core I advise you to print the core lying down as this will eliminate the layer adhesion weaknesses and insert it into the root part.
To allow the spool to roll with less friction you might want to lube the root with graphite but it isn't necessary and the spool rolls well enough without it.
I used wood screws to mount the holder to the MDF enclosure.
