The Wankel engine is a type of internal combustion engine that uses a triangular rotor instead of pistons. The rotor spins inside an oval-shaped housing, creating three chambers that handle the four stages of combustion (intake, compression, ignition, and exhaust) in a single rotation. This design makes the engine very compact and lightweight with fewer moving parts than a traditional piston engine. While it runs smoothly and has a high power-to-weight ratio, it typically uses more fuel and has higher emissions. Mazda is the most famous company to use this engine, particularly in its RX-series sports cars.
