My Warré hive has been getting pestered by wasps, this guard is an attempt to make it more difficult for the wasps for enter and easier for the bees to defend.
There are 11 9mm entry/exit holes which restricts traffic down.
Previously entrance area was 120*20mm [2400mm²]
With the guard on the entrance area is reduced to 11*63.62mm [699.82mm²] a 70% reduction in area.
The idea with the porch roof is to make it more difficult for wasps to get a good flight path.
