Water Powered Toothbrush TimerThis is a water powered toothbrush timer. You pour a glass of water into the funnel at the top, and the timer will give you your glass of water back when 2 minutes are done. While the timer is running a small triangular dial will remind you which teeth to focus on while brushingThis model uses various mechanisms to achieve this result. At the top we have a needle valve, then two interconnected siphons, and then a float driving a rack and pinion. This is a great way to teach your kids about these mechanisms while also making sure they are brushing their teeth properly!I recommend printing this in PETG since I have had the best success printing watertight parts using PETG.You will need to print:1x TBT-BackLegs.stl1x TBT-BottomTeeth.stl1x TBT-Dial.stl1x TBT-Float.stl2x TBT-FrontLeg.stl1x TBT-FrontTeeth.stl1x TBT-Funnel.stl1x TBT-MainSiphonLid.stl1x TBT-MainSiphon.stl1x TBT-MiddleSiphon.stl1x TBT-Nut.stl1x TBT-Rack.stl1x TBT-Screw.stl1x TBT-ShaftCap.stl1x TBT-Shaft.stl1x TBT-TopTeeth.stlAssembly:Assemble the shaft and the dial first. To attach the text plates to the dial use a little bit of leftover filament in the holes to align the text to the dial and then a drop of glue to keep things in place. Then the main siphon can be assembled, and finally everything van be put together. I have added some gifs that show how the assembly is done.Adjust the needle valve so that it takes around to minutes for the funnel to empty. The trickle should just stay together without breaking into little droplets when it leaves the funnel.Print Settings:For almost everything:Nozzle: 0.4mmLayer height: 0.2mm3 Walls15% InfillFor the two siphons (TBT-MainSiphon.stl and TBT-MiddleSiphon.stl) ensure that you print at least 4 Top Layers, and I also added an ironing pass at 20% flow. This ensures that the siphons don't suck air when they fire.I just used a sharpie to highlight the text on the dial.
