This is a water drop hitting the ground frozen in time.
It was modeled using Blender's fluids engine. Blender was built for movies and video games and it rocks for that. But its fluids modeler is pretty primitive. It tends to impose a subtle square geometry on everything. But it is still a spectacular print.
I would love to see what a real CFD modeler could produce.
I'll post a tutorial if anyone is interested.
