Wedge Clamp

The Wedge Clamp is a compact clamping mechanism that harnesses the self-locking wedge principle to deliver reliable holding force in a minimal, efficient form factor. Featuring a precision wedge and a central fastening bolt, the system converts vertical tightening into a powerful horizontal grip. The assembly includes two 0.3/0.5 mm × 4 mm × 20 mm springs, positioned between the jaws to provide controlled separation and maintain proper alignment when the clamp is released. For assembly, only one WedgeClampMid component, two WedgeSides and the springs are required. A test jig has also been included in the design to facilitate preliminary trials and functional testing. If desired, this jig can be printed as well. The setup is compatible with PL1–PL2 plates and an M8 bolt for securing the assembly. The Wedge Clamp is ideal for precision setups, modular fixtures, and experimental prototyping. Brute force is great, but physics is cheaper.
