This is a very easy and fun soldering project, with the reward of being able to charge your gamepad using usb c. This will only slow charge and cannot take advantage of fast charging as there are no sense resistors. You do have to bend the legs for positive and negative on the port out to be able to solder them to the two through holes (the new legs do not go through the board) from the old connector. An added bonus is the two mounting legs line up with the front mounting holes of the old connector, just make sure the usb-c connector is as far forward in the holes as possible. As these are the only 2 anchor points, make sure you can see solder flowing to the topside of the board. The 3d printed shim is tight and will help relieve any strain up and down on the connector.
