this is one of my entries in the #MakerEdChallenge It is a wind powered Ferris wheel. I got the idea from the old sawmills that have belt drive from a steam traction engine, and I thought, why not substitute a wind turbine for the traction engine? So off I went. The first thing I designed was the turbine (the first one!). It was going pretty smoothly until I tried to fit all of the parts together. I had designed the tolerances to be too tight! and plus my printer is not, well, top of the line, as you say. Even worse the driven shaft had too much friction because of the long tube that it fits through. So I drilled it out and all was OK. Second I made the jack shaft that runs between the turbine and the Ferris wheel. It had little friction because the brackets are thinner. Finally i went on to the Ferris wheel its self! Designing was a breeze. But halfway through printing (I had printed all but the little seats for it) the ramps board shorted. So, here i am, waiting for the board
