Witch with broom. Walpurgis Night, the eve of May 1st, is a night shrouded in mystery. Folklore tells of witches soaring through the sky on broomsticks, goats, or even cats, bound for the Blocksberg in the Harz Mountains, where they would convene with the devil and other dark forces.
