The rechargeable battery in a silicone cat light died so I replaced the electronics with something that can run WLED and a 50mm diameter ring of 12 WS2812 LEDs. This enclosure replaces the standard one so that a cable can enter from the side of the enclosure and not the bottom, this allows it to sit flat and not required charging. In a future iteration of the project I may add a battery and a USB socket for power, right not there is just a round hole for the cable to enter through.
The project needs
* Broken/donor rechargeable silicone cat night light (potentially others will work but I haven't tested)
* WLED compatible microcontroller board and a way to drive the LEDs, there are a few options I used an ESP01 and compatible LED module
* a USB cable you can power the electronics with.
