my favorite style case for raspberry-pi based console featuring:
- rpi itself (RPi 2 is used in particular)
- 3.5 inch SPI screen from adafruit
- 2 analog joysticks connected via atmega32u4
- 2 12mm action/fire buttons
- 4 6mm utility buttons
- 2 buzzers
- custom made amplifier
some tips:
- the buttons and joysticks are obtained from ebay (the joysticks are those look much like from dualshock 2)
- the amplifier can be made based on very commonly found single chip LF amps. without amp the RPi cannot drive speakers at all. amp is designed to be mounted vertically on the part number 3, which in turn to be put between the screen and the RPi on the right side
- the easiest way to connect buttons and joysticks is teensy2 board. we've used general purpose atmega32u4 though, so got to write custom software. it's easy to do based on examples from Arduino Studio. we've mounted atmega on the part number 4 attached on top of RPi beneath the screen
- printed with PLA but even there go
