We had a need for some really clean 0-ppm water, without the expense of gallons of distilled water, for a hobby project. We prefer the ZeroWater filters due to the gravity feed design, slow passthrough enabling consistent 0-ppm, and they are rebuildable with bulk source material. The issue is we typically filter 28+ gallons of water at a time, and doing that through the ZeroWater pitcher at a rate of 1-gallon at a time was not efficient. We needed to be able to add at least a 2nd filter, and we needed to be able to filter in batches of 4-gallons at a time.
