Out from the fog came a boat long thought lost the Zombie Benchy, or what remained of it. Its once-bright hull was now pale and grainy, like bone turned to stone. A tattered flag flapped from the mast, whispering secrets to the wind. They say it sank years ago during a storm that swallowed the entire harbor fleet. But this Zombie Benchy didn’t stay sunk. Drawn by the restless souls of drowned sailors, it clawed its way back from the depths, hull creaking like a corpse dragging itself from the grave. The seaweed tangled around its propeller twitched as if alive, and the portholes glowed with faint green light that is not lanterns, but eyes. Every full moon, the Zombie Benchy drifts along the harbor, leaving trails of phosphorescent foam and the faint sound of gears grinding like ghostly teeth. Fishermen who hear its low hum know to hide their nets and stay ashore.
