How this is measured

Download and like counts are no use here: they get overwritten whenever a model is read again, so there is no history. What is used instead is the publication date — fixed when a model is first indexed, and never changed afterwards.

What gets counted is independent designers, not models. Otherwise any shop uploading its whole catalogue at once would top the list. A topic also has to have a track record, and every platform is measured against its own average.

From these platforms almost only contest entries are currently coming in, so they are compared against earlier contest entries rather than against normal publishing: MakerWorld (13%). Topics from them reflect what a contest was calling for.
