This thing snaps onto a 3/8" hardwood dowel and provides mounting for an electrical socket (female panel mount connector 5.5 x 2.1mm). Since it's difficult to thread the socket into the hex nut there's a catch to retain the nut (shown in the sectional illustration). A 1/4" nut and bolt is about the right size to tap the retainer nut into position. If you require strain relief, there's enough room in the body to tie a knot in the 28 AWG wire.
