I needed to attach the E3D to my Falla3d printer, but at the same time I wanted to cool the filament. The difficulty was staying within precise space limits at the front and the sides of the extruder to avoid hitting the sides of the 20x20x20 print area. I solved it by placing the fans above the extruder (where I have all the space I want) and conveying the air around the sides of the extruder.
