Socrates, Discoverer of Salt is one of the many Anceint Greek Philosopher Heros, part of my series where I reimagine Greek Philosophers as Greek Heros. Socrates (c. 470–399 BCE) lived his entire life in Athens, during a period of political turbulence and cultural brilliance. Born to a stonemason and a midwife, he served as a hoplite in the Peloponnesian War and became known in the city for engaging anyone—politicians, craftsmen, poets—in probing conversations about virtue, justice, and the good life. History He left no writings, making him one of history’s most enigmatic thinkers.
