We replaced our wooden balusters in our home with iron ones. The base and top were drilled with 3/4" circular holes to put the 1/2" square balusters in. Normally, you just epoxy the baluster in but I wanted something that would keep them tight, without rattling, but allow me to remove them easily if needed. Shoes drop down over them covering them completely.

I made 2 versions. One is smaller which we needed for several of the holes that were too tight. I printed both and when I couldn't get the thicker ones in, I would put the minimal ones in.

I printed them with 35% infill but I don't think it matters much there is very little infill.
