Birdhouse

This original birdhouse design is suitable for small birds like House Wrens and Chickadees. House Wrens like it a lot and their singing can really enhance your outdoor space. The size can be scaled up or down for other bird species. Ideal placement is 3 to 5 meters above the ground. The two pieces are designed to print without the need for supports so you don’t waste any resin. I came up with a corrugated pattern for the back plane, this makes it much easier to remove from the resin build plate. I use this technique for many of my prints. Two screw holes are provided on the top piece, these can be installed with a screwdriver through the entrance hole. Stainless steel screws would work best as the should not rust. The screw holes are reinforced but washers should be used for added strength. After mounting the top onto a tree or other structure, the bottom can be slid into place and secured with a small cable tie. Puzzle tabs align the two pieces and make them fit together nicely. At the end of each season, cut the cable tie to remove and clean out the bottom piece of all nesting material. After cleaning, reassemble and it will be ready for next year. I make these with my Anycubic Photon Mono M5s Pro resin printer. I do the top and bottom separately as they don’t both fit on the plate together.
