This is my submission to the New Museum MakerBot Challenge.
I created a small pyramid-shaped tool that slides onto the handle of most average toothbrushes. It has several parts that are replaceable to allow for color customization options.
The BrushNub functions as a platform to elevate the toothbrush off of the surface it is resting on, limiting the transfer of bacteria.
Additionally, the BrushNub has a hole routed through one side. When this hole is held under running water, gravity will force water through the hole and out in an arc, much like a water fountain. This arc of water is much easier to drink from.
I feel that this design successfully addresses two issues in an aesthetically pleasing, efficient, and customizable package. The BrushNub follows many aspects of good design: it is simple and easy to understand; there are no unnecessary parts (each part serves a distinct purpose); it is as little design as possible.
This design is a derivative of the Brush and Rinse t
