Butterfly Screen Patch

Found this really nice butterfly print and thought "wow, that would make a really nice patch for a hole in the screen on my porch!" But then the challenge was how to make one that can be installed from one side.

The model has a small catch on the top that the breakaway bar on the side slides into. You'll need to snip off the unused ones, and I find snipping a little taper on one end helps insertion. Don't be too aggressive, there isn't a whole lot of tensile strength in the catch. (I did radius the corners to help distribute the load)

Once the bar is in the catch, you can slide the bar on one side into the hole, slide whole thing to one side until you can position the bar under the screen on the other side, and center. So you are actually looking at the bottom of the model.

Voila!

(for my failed catches, I slipped one of the internal wing parts into a hole, worked nice for small tears)
