I needed to square up the base for a self-built CNC machine. The base consisted of aluminum profiles and I needed to exactly measure the diagonals to decide if the frame is square or not. That was a bit hard to do because the base was so wide I couldn’t hold the start of the tape and look at the diagonal end at the same time. So I quickly printed this helper. It has a circle (diameter 20mm), so you need to subtract the radius of the circle from your measurement to get the diagonal length. For squaring up tables or picture frames it’s only relevant that both diagonals have the same length, so I just print two helpers and stick them onto the corners with double-sided tape.
