# The Yoshimoto Double Star-Cube

[The Yoshimoto Cube](http://www1.ttcn.ne.jp/a-nishi/y_cube/z_y_cube.html) is a cube that contains a star that can turn into a cube while the cube turns into a star.

This polyhedral mechanical puzzle was invented in 1971 by Naoki Yoshimoto, who discovered that two star-shaped rhombic dodecahedrons could be assembled into a cube. These two dodecahedrons allow the cube to be divided into two equal parts.

The two cubes are articulated with hinges. The attached stl files contain the elements and pins of the hinges to make 4 cm square cubes.

Each star cube contains 8 elements of 2 cm side and 8 hinge pins.

For best effect, it is recommended to print the two stars-cubes in 2 different colors.

## Printing

Printing does not require any support. The stl files are designed for a layer thickness of 0.2 mm. Printing the pins may require a raft if they do not
