With this model, I've tried to capture a structure in the process of being torn apart by a mystical energy. This is a dual function model that can be used for: Terrain: Suitable for 28mm miniatures, this model can function as a small, possibly climatic area in your tabletop setting. The files contain several elements that can be used by GMs to incorporate into their storytelling: Glowing barrels can be positions anywhere within the central base to illuminate. A simple will-o-the-wisp mini is included with an embedded LED Dice Tower: although it's not a tall dice tower, there's a small structure with a ramp that can be used to roll your dice. They may even shake a lamp on the way down. This project is also a testbed for the new Wireless Inductive Coil Kit from Maker's Supply, I wanted to utilize both the small, individual LEDs along with the new colorful COB LEDs. Light-Up Dice The dice designs use two LEDs to light a Critical Hit with green and a Critical Miss with red. These lights activate based on proximity to the base so they'll always be on when rolled. Depending on your filament choices, I've included multiple designs for the D20: Using a combination of opaque filaments with a ‘window’ to let light through. Printing an a high-transmission color like this yellow so that each face has the same background. Printing with translucent materials allows the light to ‘spread’ more but does reduce readability. 3D printed dice are different that traditional ones - they are lighter and feel a bit different when rolling. I was concerned about the weight of the dice (given the added LEDs) so I've made an effort to keep the weight symmetrical. From my brief testing of about 500 rolls, I'm seeing a spread of results that are within the range I see from similar sets of randomized values. Components The kit in the Bill of Materials contains enough LEDs for: 2 dice (one red and green LED in each) 3 lamps (one cool or warm white LED in each) 3 barrels (choose any available color)
