FIVE ROLL

Five roll refiner is 5 rolls that are stacked up, with the gap between the rolls that can be adjusted gradually, the smaller the higher, the smoother. Each stage of the roll is rotated in the opposite direction so that the forces acting on this machine are compressive forces and frictional forces. This further ensures a smoother and more homogeneous particle breakdown. The resulting particle size is usually in the range of 20 micrometers or even smaller, but it is less effective because the particle size does not feel gritty anymore at the particle size in the range of 20-25 micrometers. In the chocolate industry, to produce premium products, they tend to choose to use a five roll machine instead of a ball mill, besides being smoother and more homogeneous, it is also usually followed by a conching process so that the flavor and taste are more pronounced.
