In this type of calibration, the purpose is to check that the dimensions of the design are correct according to the amount of plastic extruded by the printer. This parameter is modified when the extruder is replaced by another of a different brand or the original extruder has lost precision due to wear, which is why it is necessary to take into account this possible modification within the printer settings.

For this case a test is performed where a hollow cube is printed without the top and bottom face, in this way it can be checked if the thickness of the side faces corresponds to those of the design. A cube with a side face thickness of 0.8 mm is printed with the following printing parameters:
Nozzle: 0.4 mm
Layer width: 0.8 mm (equivalent to two outer layers)
Flow rate: 100%

The following equation is used to calculate the new flow rate

(Flujo)_modificado=(((Flujo)_inicial*(Espesor de la cara del cubo)_Diseño)/(Espesor de la cara del cubo)_Impresión )
