Harmonic Driver Version 1

The Harmonic Drive is a type of gearbox that offers a very high gear ratio compared to other gearboxes of the same size. Additionally, it has extremely low backlash and no reverse reaction. As a result, the Harmonic Drive operates very smoothly with minimal vibration. This type of gearbox is widely used in robotics applications, such as robotic arms and robots that require high gear ratios. This gearbox is the first version I designed, with a gear ratio of 1:25. The components were 3D printed using PETG plastic, except for the Flex Ring Gear, which was printed with flexible TPU. After fabrication and testing, I realized that the Output Gear was insufficiently secured, which caused the gearbox to not operate as intended. Version 2 is coming soon.
