HexArray1

I saw a 2D line drawing of this arrangement of hexagons and squares and I thought it would make an interesting container for various types of small parts. It took me about 5 minutes to find the correct dimensions for the hexagons, squares, and circular array that allowed everything to fit together properly. The overall size (213 mm diameter) is fairly close to the maximum size my printer can print, I added fillets to all the inside edges so the compartments would be easy to clean. It printed in 15 hours using a print speed of 120 mm/sec and a layer height of 0.200 mm.

A possible future version of this design will include a top for the compartments - I'll make 1 top for the square and 1 for the hexagon, and you can print as many as you'd like. To ensure the printed tops fit ok I'll have to make a slight modification to the existing design as well.
