Honestly I can't use a sewing machine so I don't know how to name this thing properly. My mother-in-law calls it thread holder, but by checking how others name it, looks like the proper name is "thread cap". It's for Janome sewing machine.
Remix was done in OpenSCAD. Now I realize I could try to edit blender file of previous remix, but well, I chose another way. I just scaled stl in OpenSCAD and cut the bottom :).
Result is holding the spool very tight, but I couldn't fit it all on the rod (bottom hole was too small). I chamfered it a little bit with an Exacto knife, and my mother-in-law is happy now :)
I added "relaxed" version which is about 1% bigger, which is probably what you want. Or you can try the "tight" version and use a knife or file if necessary.
UPD: relaxed version wasn't relaxed enough. Replaced by very relaxed version. Or, you can scale it as much as you need.
Честно говоря, не умею пользоваться швейной
