Eyes to Hear With: Easy to Manufacture CC Glasses I was enthralled when I saw this challenge as it was a way for me to finally express an idea that really hits home for me. I was inspired with this design by my youngest brother who was left deaf on one side after an accident when he was a young boy. I would like to dedicate this design to him and to all of those who struggle with a communication handicap. What you see is a basic concept of a pair of glasses (Lorgnon). This concept will capture voice recognition; convert it to text and display it on a screen which is accomplished by projection onto a prism glass. These glasses can be held or warn and are not only used for visual media but for any verbal communication. Considering the available technology this day in age, it is possible to manufacture this product with ease and low cost. Parts/Technology * Bluetooth (to communicate with a smartphone device for settings accessibility) * Settings can be accessed via voice recognition * Voice to Text Module * Mic * Chargeable Battery (charging port not shown on design slides) * Led Projector (only to display text + cost effective) * Injection Moulded Lens with Built In Prism Glass. * Transport and Bit Reflective Film (to put in prism similar to that of sunglasses) * Power On/Off button * Casing (can swing to wear or to be held) * Sticky Silicone (used to hold glasses in place while being worn) * Hearing Aid Devise (option also provided if applicable) My estimate total manufacturing cost for this concept/design would be around $30 to $70 based on personal experience. R&D costs are unpredictable as it varies on individual producer.
