Underground Mars City – “Gareapolis”
This 3D model was created as part of a school project titled Seminar: Urban Planning – Urban Living in the Future. I designed an underground Martian city named Gareapolis, imagining how humans might live on Mars in the near future.
The model consists of two main parts:
The upper section represents the Martian regolith, acting as a protective shield against cosmic radiation.
The lower section showcases a slice of the urban center of the city.
Inside the city segment, you'll find simplified models of shops and recreational areas—such as climbing structures and activity zones (see images for details). Hidden inside the ceiling structure are an Arduino and two RGB LEDs, which shine through an opening in the ceiling to simulate a day/night cycle.
The design merges functional, technical elements with creative urban concepts—bringing a bit of sci-fi imagination to life.
Print settings I used:
Infill: 15%
Layer Height: 0.15 mm
