This is a scaled down spool that should fit most spool holders. You can customize it however you would like to be able to fit nearly any needs. I know there are some designs out there that use less material, but I've tried them and none of them really worked great. They would catch on things, or were too weak, or they wouldn't fit right.
I have a lot of sample filaments that I have no good way of feeding them into the printer, so when I take one out of the bag it is in, I just slide it on the spool, snap the spool together, and it's ready to print.
You can have it generate both sides or choose which piece you want so you can print them individually. Filament holes for the ends can be adjusted, as well as the overall size of the spool, the hole, and the pegs that snap the two together.
If your filament is more than about 50g or so, I would suggest making the width a little higher.
I've also included the STL files for the default settings for both sides together and individually.
