Here is my over the top, over engineered version of a gridding spindle for Shaper Origin. There are plenty of other versions of this out there in the wild, but I (for whatever random reason) wanted to go way down the rabbit hole and make mine look more similar to the actual spindle. I used a POWERTEC 71476 ¼" x 2" Hardened Steel Dowel Pin for the probe (available on Amazon). I assembled it with 3D Gloop for ABS and ASA. The pin is a light press fit, I just pressed it in with a parallel clamp. If all you want is function, you could simply print the main body (the silver part on plate 2 in my file), the rest is just for looks.
