Smoking outside my apartment used to be uncomfortable. I had to go downstairs and stand in front of the building without a proper place to dispose of cigarette waste. After moving in, I noticed that many other residents were also stepping outside to smoke—and unfortunately, leaving cigarette butts scattered around the entrance. To address this I designed a compact, mountable ashtray that keeps the area clean and encourages responsible use. Since installing it, the entrance has remained tidy, and to my surprise, other residents have started emptying the ashtray regularly. The design mounts easily onto a 42 mm handrail using two M4 socket head bolts and inserts. The ashtray itself has a 90 mm diameter and a 10 mm seating depth, making it stable enough to support even a full coffee cup when needed. I positioned it just under the glass canopy at the entrance to protect it from rain. It’s a small addition with a surprisingly positive impact.
