Split Machine

A split machine is a learning tool that helps children practice number splitting in math. Splitting means dividing one number into two smaller numbers that together make the same total.

For example:
You can split 8 into 5 and 3, or into 6 and 2.

The split machine shows children how this works.

You put a number at the top of the machine (for example, 8).

At the bottom, two numbers come out that together make 8 (such as 5 and 3).

This way, children learn in a playful manner which numbers combine to make a given total.

You can adjust the size to your preference.
