These water containers of different shapes and sizes demonstrate that fluid pressure at a certain points depends only on the depth of that point.Hydrostatic pressureAccording to the hydrostatic pressure formula, the pressure in a fluid is a product of the fluid density, gravitational acceleration, and the fluid depth. In other words, when performing the experiment with a single fluid (water) on a single planet (Earth), it depends only on the height of the container, and not on the amount or distribution of fluid above it. This result can be counter-intuitive - we might imagine the total weight of water above a point to have a greater effect than just the height of the water.
