This object has been drawn and printed by students aged 14-15 of the (Name) Secondary School. The activity has been carried out within the Erasmus+ project PRINT STEM www.printstemproject.eu and co-funded by the Italian National Agency INDIRE.
This is a trisector: a mechanical device that divides an angle into three congruent parts.
The problem of the trisection of an angle has been faced by many ancient and modern authors, among them: Nicomedes (second century B.C.) and Archimedes of Syracuse
(287 B.C. - 212 B.C.).
The trisector devised by Rufus Isaacs solves the problem in a mechanical way.
The understanding of the mechanism involves the application of the congruence criteria.
