A Universal Coupling (also known as a Universal Joint or Hooke’s Joint) is a mechanical component used to transmit rotary motion between two shafts that are not in a straight line. It allows for the transmission of torque and angular displacement even when the shafts are misaligned. Key Features: Accommodates angular misalignment between shafts. Typically consists of two yokes and a central cross (spider). Used in applications where shafts must operate at variable angles. Reduces the impact of misalignment on mechanical performance. Applications: Automobile drive shafts (connecting the transmission to the differential). Machinery and industrial equipment requiring flexible shaft connections. Aerospace and marine applications for smooth power transmission. Heavy-duty machines and agricultural equipment.
