A simple, customizable, wall-mounted network-attached-storage system. Designed using OpenSCAD.
It's just a wall-mounted "container" for an external USB-3 hard drive with mounting screw holes on the front for attaching a Raspberry Pi 4.
The wall screws I used were wood screws. I sunk them into studs (which was probably entirely unnecessary given how little weight was on them.) You could also use drywall anchors (still probably unnecessary) or maybe even get away with putting them in drywall with no anchors. You might well even be able to get away with only one mounting screw. (I'm no expert on such things, though. YMMV.) If you're using two screws, you'll of course want to put them one above the other the correct distance apart.
The way I mounted it (with two screws in studs), it felt very sturdy. About a year after installing, the back wall of the mount appeared to have warped in response to some combination of the weight on it and the warmth of the hard drive, but I don't think the
